Belgium's own
Ephameron has invited her favorite world bank (us!) to make money during her solo exhibition, "Letting Go" at Believe Inn, THIS SATURDAY-August 29th 6-10pm.

Ephameron has been bouncing around the states all summer with her next stop in Chicago to create a site specific mural installation paired with various pieces shipped over for the exhibition.

Come get bags to take and return, bring bag fillers, decorate a bag on site, rob us, however you want to take part. We'll be sewing/drawing onsite and spreading the MoneyBags gospel.

Spore Projects: Taking MoneyBags for a ride!

S.P.O.R.E MOBILE GALLERY
Spontaneous Projects Orchestrating Relevant Exchange

SPORE Mobile Gallery is an aging 1998 Ford Windstar minivan converted into a mobile exhibition space with an interior installation gallery and performance/exhibition tent pioneered by Emily Hemeyer.

Starting in late August-September, SPORE is traveling throughout the West Coast visiting a slew of public spaces, backyards, small venues, galleries and institutions. As part of the Cultural Ambassadry Interchange we'll be collecting photographs, stories and art from anyone and everyone who is circumstantially present at our (mostly) spontaneous events. Yes folks, we are stopping in quaint little college towns as well as large bustling cities. If you’d like us to host a visit shoot Emily an email at ghostsihavebeen@gmail.com.

the coolest shit in this town

http://artistruncreditleague.wordpress.com/

i like this. it promotes socialism and other things destroying america.

basically, if you're too lazy to cut-copy-paste the link into your toolbar... i'll be the summarizer for you:
let's say artstars lisa and stan want to dream big and put on spectacular shows.... but they only have 2 dollars each. then they form a collective into which they monthly pay, oh... say 2 bucks. then whatever's in the collective pot is rotated. so one month stan will have a whopping 4 bucks to fulfill his wildest art supply dreams and then next month lisa will blow all that cash on hookers and cocaine (as are her usual expenditures).
now multiply the number of people and up the monthly fee a few pearls.... then what happens?
genius.

The Only ATM I Can Trust

Lower East Side, Manhattan, NY

NewYork, New York

Ongoing

This is an ongoing project, so your participation can never be too early or too late. Help as much as you want and spread the word!

Project Launch

MoneyBags takes a shot at re-evaluating wealth, worth and currency. It attempts to create unexpected reencounters with a familiar image/icon that has been popularly relegated to the realm of cartoons, illustrations, and the surreal. Ideas of ownership, abandonment, economy, luxury, generosity, legality, the ridiculous and any other matters of mind are also sprinkled into the project.

Originally, each bag was constructed, printed and stuffed with dollar bill sized prints of Stan Chisholm's (aka 18andCounting) poetic "One-Liner" phrases covering a gamut of topics about life, the abstract, and the humorous. The bags would then be left behind in unsanctioned public spaces, free for the taking or what have you.

(MoneyBags, Shibuya, Tokyo,)

Now headed by the duo of Chisholm and Lisa See Kim, MoneyBags is taking on an all-inclusive stance for anyone to participate in. Those who choose to take part are asked to construct their own MoneyBags, stuff them with any messages, items or creations of "value" then add them to Chisholm's & Kim's MoneyBags hoard to be distributed by the stack along with other bags. The donation of supplies, "valuables", empty self-made MoneyBags, and project space is also graciously encouraged.

The first MassiveMoneyBagsDrop will take place in October for the Art On Track show where we will fill a CTA train car! Aided by the Hyde Park Art Center, Chisholm and Kim will facilitate MoneyBags creation programs filled with screen printing, bag construction and the creation of "valuables." These will be hosted by HPAC throughout August and September 2009.

Paying too much for school?
While it doesn't seem to be the most consistently run thing, but it sure is a generous idea. They probably don't deserve the title of a University, but i'm pretty sure the idea is unowned so hell... Take it and run!

Anyway, if you're tired of crying about college loans, and the schools you wanted to attend but couldn't afford you should pay Toronto a visit and get learned at the Anarchist Free University.

You wont get a degree, but you can network and probably meet some worthwhile people. Stop moaning about your pockets and go.
